Some times you sit down and listen to an album and just wish like crazy you hadn't sent other people to cover the show. I sent Andrew Rodriguez (Writer) and Shawn Reinert (Photographer) to the most recent Point Juncture, WA show at the Holocene late last month, and ever since Shawn delivered the album from these guys, I have been kicking myself. There is this one song, New Machine that I just can't get out of my head. The opening hits you with a tight paced guitar rumbling at you. Try playing this song with your speakers cranked and maybe touch up the bass just a little bit and you will know what I am talking about. Amanda's (the lead singer) voice comes curling out at you right after that, a wonderful sing-songy sound to it, playful, a good counter note to the synth and drums tapping and humming along in the background. My other absolute favorite would have to be Sick On Sugar. The singing is standard fair for the album, rising and falling through out the song, drawing you in while you rejoice in the fun and talented guitar runs. In this song in particular, there is a note of happiness and playfulness that will have your feet moving and hoping that the song won't quit. Oh, and don't forget the tambourine, you can't have a sad song if a tambourine is involved. Other tracks to take a look at are Pearl of the Quarter (a wonderful, almost bluesy vibe with modern rock interludes), and Cardboard Box which are both available for download on their Myspace Profile. These guys have a good thing going on here, so get out there and check them out. Jake gave these guys 4 Maple Bacon Bars. Go check out the album and get your asses into a show!
